ABOUT US
Holiday HOOPS & ARTs was founded in 2001 by Westley "Doc" Holiday, Sr. and Judy Linder Holiday. We are a nonprofit organization whose involvement in the community has fostered, developed, and implemented a high-quality sports program for boys and girls ages 8 through 18. The HOOPS in Holiday Hoops stands for “Helping Others Obtain Personal Success,” and ART stands for “Amplifying & Refining Talents.” For over 21 years, we have believed in the power to change the lives of youths who need direction. By using fundamental team working skills in athletics and art, our youth have achieved academic excellence and become the best in our society.
Creating Something Better
Imagine being a teenager raised in a low-income family and unable to afford new shoes. You love basketball because it centers you despite what is happening. You must play the game every day and sometimes barefoot on the courts. Imagine someone sees your potential and helps you to apply for college. Because of them, you become the first person in your family to attend college on a full sports scholarship. Then imagine dedicating your life to teaching and giving back to the community and inner-city youth. Finally, imagine you are still advocating to better the lives of others more than 50 years later. Holiday HOOPS & ARTs is a story of hope for those who are overlooked and need it most. It's also the story of our founder, Westley Holiday Sr., and why he was inspired to create this organization. This is the beautiful circle of humanity and the joyful cycle of giving back.
